A guide to content creation for non-square and abstract videowall designs

A square or rectangle videowall is simple to make content for, as everything lines up nicely and you will be able to view the content as it is made just like how you will see it on the finished wall.

when going beyond 4 screens tall or wide and adding complex shapes, gaps and designs into the mix, the creation of content needs to be thought about carefully.

using the above setup as an example, it is a 5 screen wide, 5 screen tall pyramid. this goes beyond our 4 x 4 design mentioned in the previous case study CRT resolutions and creating content

But with only 15 screens, we can still fit this in a 4k window easily, with a little bit of shuffling around. this image shows the arrangement used to fit this setup inside a 4K content window.

This next image is the final reference, this is how the finished video will be displayed, the content can be made like this using after effects or similar, then “sliced” into the format of the above video space image.

We then “unpack” the jumbled up video content in our server or scaler rack and send the right section to each tv, giving you the finished version as intended.
